A historical flooring favorite, tile remains beloved in modern times, offering appealing and enduring options for just about every budget and style.
At Akel’s Carpet One Floor & Home, we carry a comprehensive collection of both indoor and outdoor tile, and our inventory continues growing in response to ongoing requests. Are you considering tile for your home, or for your business? Here’s what you need to know:
Types of Tile
Tile is constantly evolving, with the product market constantly expanding. Still, the most popular tile types are the more traditional choices of ceramic, stone, and porcelain.
Which one will you choose? It depends on your needs: will this tile be used indoors, or outdoors? Will your tile floor be in an area that’s prone to moisture, spills, and/or heavy foot traffic?
Ceramic tiles are produced using kiln-fired clay. This tile is ideal for everyday use, since it can stand up to heavy traffic.
Porcelain tiles are produced from clay that’s fired at a higher temperature than ceramic. This tile tends to be a little denser than ceramic, making it tough enough to use outdoors. It’s also a lovely choice indoors, of course.
Stone tiles are produced by carving slabs of natural stone, such as slate, marble, and granite. This tile is really popular for poolside areas, and other outdoor spaces, with its organic origins. It also looks great in an indoor entry way, or around your fireplace.
